About Me
I am a retired telecommunications software engineer and, since retiring, have become interested in teaching young people to program using real programming languages. This is to fill the transition from drag-and-drop styles of coding (like Scratch, code.org and other sites) to real text based programming languages. My desire is to provide a fun, interactive experience. Turtle Graphics fills that bill. It is easy to use and it can draw with more precision than is possible even with physical drafting tools. The art is a feeble attempt to get the more non-technical people involved in programming.
Above all:
- Be Courious.
- Be Inspired.
- Be Happy.
- Have Fun.
About
About This Site
Static Site Generation This site is mostly statically generated using gohugo.io. The text files are prepared using a mark up language called mark-down. There are various tools available for editing mark-down files. I use a Linux program called Typora which allows writing in a mix of raw and formated text views. The basic theme for Hugo layout is ananke, although it has been modified slightly. Several several short codes have been added to change certain behaviors.

About
The Story of This Website
This website started with an implementation of Turtle Graphics. This is intended to be used by people who want to learn how to program and how to do computer graphics. Turtle graphics provides an easy and interactive way to program. This program uses JavaScript which is the language built into almost all browsers.
But what to draw? There are a lot of places for inspiration and collection of various examples. Advertising and graphic design are everywhere.

To Do List
About the Lists This is really more than one list. This is a fairly complex project with a lot of moving parts. The lists is just a way to stay organized while getting a bunch of little steps working to make the overall project work.
